Acceptable Use Policy
This page is a plain-language template drafted for RTFC's pre-launch, invite-only phase. It has not been reviewed by outside counsel.
This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to the dashboard, the API, and any content submitted through either.
Prohibited uses
You may not use RTFC to:
- Process, generate or distribute content that is illegal in the jurisdiction where you operate, or that infringes a third party's rights.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or a spend ceiling - including by provisioning excess accounts or automating retries designed to bypass a 429 or 402 response.
- Attempt to manipulate a verdict, confidence score, or the source-trust model - for example by feeding fabricated evidence into a claim's research context, or gaming the elector or voting mechanisms described in Research modes.
- Scrape or bulk-extract the underlying source corpus, research results, or model outputs for a purpose other than your own legitimate use of the service.
- Impersonate another person or organisation, or misrepresent the origin of content submitted for fact-checking.
- Resell or sublicense access to the API outside the terms of your plan, without a signed agreement permitting it.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to defeat the authentication, authorization or rate-limiting controls described in this documentation, other than through a disclosed, authorized security assessment.
Analysing people's public content
Brand checks, account views and monitors transcribe and analyse public videos and captions published by third parties (creators, influencers, brands) to find what they say about a brand. They exist for legitimate business purposes such as vetting a sponsorship, checking a partnership or following a brand's reputation. You may not use them to:
- Build a profile of a private individual, or follow a person for reasons unrelated to a brand or a business relationship.
- Infer or collect a person's health, sexual life or orientation, political opinions, religion, ethnic origin or any other special category of personal data.
- Reach content that is not public, or circumvent a platform's access controls, terms or rate limits.
- Take a decision with legal or similarly significant effects on a person (refusing a contract, ending a relationship, a ban) based solely on an automated result, without reading the quoted passages and the video.
- Harass, threaten, expose or defame a person, or publish a quotation stripped of its context.
A result is a detection aid, not a verdict on a person. The tone and the sponsorship signal are an automated reading of a transcript or a caption and can be wrong, a mention can be missed, and a transcript can contain transcription errors. Read the passages before acting on them.
